Your Questions answered..

Why Get Arty Is Different?

What makes Get Arty different from other studios?
We focus on experimentation over copying technique — you'll be gently pushed to find your own style, not told exactly what to paint. Every class uses genuine artist-grade materials, runs in small groups with real one-to-one attention, and is taught in English in a relaxed, professional studio in the heart of Thao Dien.

Is it about technique or creative expression?
Expression first, technique as the tool to get you there. Our courses are built around bold colour, texture and experimentation, not strict step-by-step copying.

Is it fun and social, or more of a serious class?
Both. It's a properly equipped, professional studio, but the vibe is relaxed and welcoming — students often say it's as much about the people and the unwind as the painting

Will I feel out of my depth?
No — we teach total beginners and experienced artists in the same room, with support tailored to you.

About the Studio

Where are you located?
We're in Thao Dien, at 19 Đường số 46, Thảo Điền, Thủ Đức, Hồ Chí Minh City — inside a creative space called The Backyard, surrounded by cafes with a great village vibe.

Who teaches the classes?
All classes are led by Ottie, our founder, a UK artist whose own travel-inspired paintings are on display and for sale at the studio. She's known for her patience, warmth and ability to adapt to every student's level.

Do I need experience to join?
Not at all — our classes work for complete beginners through to advanced artists, often in the same session.

Do I need to bring materials?
No, everything's included — oils, acrylics, inks, watercolour and more, all professional-grade.

Adult Art Courses

What courses do you run?
Botanical Art, Abstract Landscape, Abstract Portraits and Portrait Art, each an 8-week term with morning, afternoon and evening options. The next term starts October 2026.

Do the courses change?
Yes — themes refresh each term, so even if you've done a course before there's always something new to explore.

How much do they cost?
7,500,000 VND for 8 weeks, with 15% off if you book by 1 September.

Can I pay in instalments?
Yes, cash-paying members can split fees — half upfront, half by week 4.

Not sure which course to pick?
Fill in the help form on the Adults page and we'll recommend the right fit by WhatsApp or email.

Can I keep coming back?
Definitely — many of our students return term after term, especially since the themes change each time.

Kids and Teens

What ages do you teach?
Kids 7–11 and teens 11+, in separate age-appropriate classes.

What clubs do you run?
The Kids Art Lab Club covers nature-inspired projects, sculpture and mixed media. The Teen Art Club explores bold abstract landscape work — both fun, messy and social. Themes change each term and we try to work with what kids/teens are interested in exploring.

Do you run holiday camps?
Yes, our Summer ArtCamp (ages 7–12) runs in August with a different hands-on project each week.

Are the groups good for teens/kids socially as well as creatively?
Very much so — it's one of our favourite things to see as kids come out of their shells in our studio environment . Building strong friendships, communication and learning to work collaboratively when needed.

How established are the kids/teen programmes?
Very — this October marks our 14th term teaching kids and teens and we often have waitlists. We've built up a real community of kids who keep coming back term after term.

Is it more about developing talent or just having fun?
Both, in equal measure. We genuinely nurture talent and help teens grow as artists, but the sessions stay fun-first — it's a welcoming space for any teen who loves making art, not just those aiming to get serious about it.

Workshops and Private Events/Rental

What workshops do you offer?
Our workshop lineup is always evolving — past sessions have included multi-day painting weekends, oil portrait days and sketching tours. The best way to see what's currently on is to sign up to our newsletter or follow us on Instagram (@getartysaigon) or Facebook.

Where do sketching tours happen?
Our city sketch tours are often based out of the studio, heading out into Thao Dien to draw on location. We usually bring everyone back for the last hour or so to finish work together in the studio's air-conditioned comfort.

Arty Parties and Celebrations

What makes it different from a typical paint-and-sip?
It's genuinely creative and collaborative — think shared murals, collage, glue-gun sparkles and themed projects, not paint-by-numbers.

Group size?
6–12 guests; larger groups welcome at an alternative venue with notice.

Can we bring food?
Not inside the studio, but we can set up a table outside or you can use the cafe next door. Drinks are fine inside.

Studio Rental - Can I rent the space?
Yes, for individual work, events or workshops, with art equipment included. Consumables like paint and canvas are extra.
