Course Details

Expect a super fun and experimental session using different mediums (pencil, pastel, acrylics, ink and collage) each week - inspired by tropical planting we'll be in the studio experimenting with new styles and approaches to build up confidence in composition and application - The outline below is flexible and subject to some minor changes depending on weather and participant experience WEEK 1: Sketch book study We'll work from our outdoor space, still life or photos, to develop a number of quick sketchbook studies inspired by our lush garden surroundings with a focus on pattern, line and form delving into colour theory in our first week! WEEK 2: Still life Study This week we will take a deeper delve into composition and perspective and look at how to create more 3 dimensional drawings using texture - including collage application. Week 3: Mark Making This week we will move on to experiment with expressive mark making using acrylic washes, palette knives and sponges! WEEK 4 -7 Final Composition This week we will use what we've learned so far to develop a large piece of work to be completed over the last sessions using media of your choice.
